Understanding the Time

Every presidential election is of the utmost importance, for as our leadership goes, so goes the nation. It is always a four year decision that has tremendous national and international consequence.

This year our nation is at an unprecedented place. We stand at a crossroads where national decisions made in the next couple of months and years will literally impact the next 40 years. There is no doubt that far more hangs in the balance than the usual matters of significance or importance. You may or may not be aware, but here is just a glimpse of a few of the decisions that will be before our national governmental leaders (whether the President, Congress, or the Supreme Court) very soon, any one of which will have sweeping national consequence.

1.) The next administration will without doubt appoint some number of U.S. Supreme Court justices for life, tipping the national scales of justice toward righteousness or unrighteousness for a generation. (Reference Liberty and Justice - The Crisis of Our Time).

2.) The two court cases (Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton) that brought abortion on demand in 1973, overturning laws in all 50 states, and bringing the present holocaust of the unborn (with the loss of 40,000,000 of our children) are again in the courts. Both of these cases will again be before the High Court very soon. (Reference Operation Outcry - Silent No More)

3.) For forty years our Christian heritage as a nation has been slowly stripped away, whether from our history books or every vestige of faith in the public square, the acknowledgement of God has become a vicious target. Legislation will be before the U.S. Congress that could lay the axe to the root and fully address this abuse defining specific judicial boundaries within the year. (Reference the Constitution Restoration Act of 2004).

4.) The War on Terror is a whole new era for this nation, and how it is handled will impact the lives of families and nations.

5.) Whether a person or a nation, reckoning with past injustice and reconciling with those wronged or offended is not only a matter of doing what is right - there is lingering consequence until the wrong is made right so wounds may heal. An unprecedented National Resolution of Apology to the Native Peoples is now before U.S. Congress acknowledging the atrocities done by the hand of the U.S. government and the continual breach of covenant and treaties (Reference bill number S.J.RES.37 or H.J.RES.98 at the Library of Congress).

And so much more ...

May we consider very seriously the time, and our responsibility in this critical hour ...

Knowing What We Must Do

In light of these things, and so many other signs that we as a nation stand at a pivotal crossroads, we must embrace our call and responsibility.

Please consider some of the following ways to ARISE and SHINE as lights in this present world ...

Specific Actions

1.) Please be faithful in prayer, and even fasting. Stand in the gap for our nation in word and deed - with fervent prayer and decisive action.

2.) Let your voice and vote be heard! How shall they hear if we do not speak? Register to vote, and go to the polls.

May heaven hear our cry ...

May earth hear an unwavering voice that comforts the afflicted, defends the innocent, and reproves injustice ...

3.) Please take personal responsibility to be informed (on local and national issues, on candidates, on party platforms). Make an effort to inform others. (Reference Informed Action page)

4.) Be salt and light! To preserve this nation, we cannot pretend moral laws are less real than physical laws, or the personal and national consequences will be devastating.

5.) Find political leaders who share your values and convictions, and support their campaign efforts and volunteer to help.

6.) Consider involvement in grassroots efforts like Christian Coalition of Alabama.

Exhortations

"I looked for a man to stand in the gap before me for the Land ..." (Ezek 22:30)

"If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their Land." (2 Chr 7:14)

"Open thy mouth for those who cannot speak, and in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction." (Prov 31:8)

"Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the afflicted and needy." (Prov 31:9)

"And knowing the time, that now it is high time to AWAKE ..." (Rom 16:11)

"Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men." (Matt 5:13)

"Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house." (Matt 5:15)

Please see the Informed Action page to help in registering to vote or obtaining other details regarding information, decision, or action.

As Moses spoke to the nation of Israel at just such a crossroads for a generation, may we too hear, "I call heaven and earth to bear witness against you this day, that I have set before you LIFE and death, BLESSING and cursing: therefore CHOOSE LIFE that both you and your children may live." (Deut 30:19)

As a nation, we too stand at just such a river Jordan ...

Event Information and Directions

Two strategic area-wide gatherings will occur in North Alabama to highlight this critical time for our nation, and to help mobilize the Christian community through informing, calling to fervent prayer, and encouraging people to vote. These are not political rallies. Understanding the unique time we are in, they are a call to prayer and action for the Body of Christ, that we might be faithful in our responsibility to both God and man ...

"Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's." (Matt 22:21)
